How the project works
The Irish News Young News Readers Media Project provides a weekly School Edition newspaper accompanied by an educational resource booklet to aid the development of literacy skills and critical thinking at Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3.
Research shows younger audiences cite news as being ‘too boring and irrelevant’ as reasons for their lack of interest in the news today. In response to this, The Irish News has created an initiative to engage young people in news through an eight-week programme of engaging literacy-based tasks including a booklet with a variety of resources for teachers and pupils.
